Overview
Dr John Caruana is the Head of Legal & Immigration at CLA Malta. Throughout his career, he has attained broad experience in various areas of law, including but not limited to:
- contractual law, where he has assisted with the drafting and review of different types of contracts;
- corporate law, where amongst other services, he assisted and advised clients on company formations and corporate restructuring process; and
- immigration law, where he is mainly responsible for a portfolio of high-net- worth clients who apply for Maltese citizenship/residency via investment.
Thus, Dr. John Caruana is well-versed in reading the law and interpreting it. Together with his team, he also monitors daily legal updates so that he continues to be appraised on any changes in the law which may affect the firm internally, or the firm’s client base. This proactive approach ensures that CLA Malta remains at the forefront of legal and immigration practices.

- Postgraduate Diploma in Laws (Commercial And Corporate Law) – University of London
He also became a warranted lawyer in 2020. Since then, whilst working full-time, he has continued to strengthen his knowledge on various important legal areas, including on the General Data Protection Regulation, through the CIPP/E and Lead Malta GDPR courses which he accomplished. Moreover, he has also undertaken successfully the CAFCA (Certified AML FinTech Compliance Associate) to further enhance his knowledge on anti-money laundering.

John’s fitness journey has had its ups and downs, reflecting his fluctuating interest in the gym. He enjoys going out with friends, but he also values having time to himself to recharge.
