CLA Malta Returns to Nature Trust Malta

16/10/2026

Following our first visit in April, CLA Malta returned to the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre at Xrobb l-Għaġin on Friday, 16th October, for another meaningful day dedicated to environmental awareness, teamwork, and giving back. This second visit offered more of our employees the opportunity to discover the important work carried out by Nature Trust Malta and actively contribute to the upkeep of its facilities.

The day began with an informative presentation by the Nature Trust Malta team, introducing participants to the organisation, its mission, and its ongoing efforts to rescue, rehabilitate, and protect Malta’s wildlife.

Following the presentation, employees were taken on a guided tour of the rehabilitation centre, gaining valuable insights into the different species cared for at the facility. Particular attention was given to sea turtles, their life cycle, and the threats they face in their natural habitat, including entanglement in fishing nets, ingestion of plastic waste and balloons, and injuries caused by boat propellers.

The team then had the opportunity to observe the rescued sea turtles being cared for in the centre’s rehabilitation tanks, before visiting the hedgehogs receiving treatment and care. Seeing these animals up close offered a deeper understanding of the dedication and resources required to support their recovery and, where possible, their eventual return to the wild.

Following the educational tour, it was time to put teamwork into action. CLA Malta employees rolled up their sleeves and assisted with several cleaning and maintenance activities around the facility, including cleaning windows and floors, sweeping outdoor areas, and collecting litter from the surrounding grounds. These hands-on efforts provided practical support to the centre and its daily operations.

The day concluded with a well-deserved lunch in the centre’s outdoor picnic area, giving colleagues the opportunity to relax, connect, and reflect on the experience.

The Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, operated by Nature Trust – FEE Malta and located within Xrobb l-Għaġin Natural Park, plays a vital role in the rescue, treatment, and rehabilitation of injured wildlife. Through its work, the organisation continues to promote biodiversity conservation and environmental education across Malta.

Returning to Nature Trust Malta reflects CLA Malta’s ongoing commitment to supporting initiatives that make a meaningful difference to our environment and communities. By involving more employees in these experiences, we aim to encourage greater environmental awareness, strengthen our team spirit, and continue turning our values into action.

At CLA Malta, giving back goes beyond a single initiative. It is about building lasting connections, supporting those who protect our natural heritage, and making a positive impact together.
